Jean Schaefer, Founder

Jean Schaefer founded Artemis Startup Consulting in 2011.  Artemis Startup Consulting offers strategic advice, market research, and risk assessments to startup entrepreneurs.  Jean has received training at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology and the National Council for Technology Transfer in entrepreneurship and research commercialization.  Prior to starting her own company Jean held scientific positions at Pfizer, Bayer, and Yale.  Jean’s scientific interests span cell biology and molecular biology as well as bioinformatics, genetics and genomics and she has developed a platform technology to identify novel peptide hormones and contributed to numerous drug discovery programs.  Jean served as President of Pfizer’s largest networking group and has facilitated and designed professional development programs to provide the opportunity for all colleagues to develop business acumen.  Currently Jean is active in the Southeastern Connecticut Entrepreneur Network and in the Association for Women in Science (AWiS).
